Jigsaw Puzzle Paintings is meant to be a quiet place. That idea shapes how the app is built, and it shapes this page too. There is no account. No sign up, no login, no password. You never tell us your name or your email address to play. Open the app and start a puzzle. That is the whole of it.
Below is a plain description of the small amount of information the app does handle, and the choices you have over it.
Your puzzles stay yours
Everything about your play is kept on your own device. The puzzles you have solved, your times, your hearts, your achievements, your settings.
We cannot see any of it. It is not held on our servers, because we do not run any.
Keeping your progress safe across devices
So that your collection follows you from your iPhone to your iPad, the app quietly saves a copy of your progress to your personal iCloud account. That is your own private Apple storage, and Studio Scale has no way in.
It happens on its own, with nothing to set up and nothing to switch on. If iCloud is turned off on your device, the app works exactly the same and simply keeps everything local. Nothing about who you are travels with it, only the puzzle progress itself.
Ads, and your say over them
The free version shows rewarded ads, the kind you choose to watch when you want extra hearts. They are supplied by a well known advertising partner, not by us.
To choose which ads to show, that partner may use an advertising identifier from your device. It is a number iOS gives out, and you control it and can reset it whenever you like.
Here is the part that matters. Saying no costs you nothing.
The first time an ad becomes relevant, iOS asks whether the app may track you. If you decline, you see ads that are not personalised, and you still get the same reward every time. You can change your mind later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. In the EU and the UK, a further consent screen appears before any ad is shown, where you can accept or refuse.
We also use Apple's own measurement system, which reports whether an ad led to an install without identifying you.
Puzzle+ removes ads entirely.
4. How we learn what to improve
We keep a small, anonymous record of how the app is used. An app opened, a puzzle started or solved and how long it took, a screen visited, a subscription screen shown. It travels with the app version, the iOS version and your language, so we know which builds and which languages need attention.
We hold ourselves to a firm line here. No advertising identifier is attached to any of it, because this data has nothing to do with ads. Your device appears only as a scrambled, one way code that cannot be turned back into you or your device. We read the results as totals and trends across everyone. There is no way to single out one player, and no interest in doing so.
This is handled through a privacy focused analytics provider, chosen for exactly that reason.
5. Puzzle+ and payments
Puzzle+ is an auto renewing subscription, and Apple handles the payment. Your card, your billing address and your Apple Account details go to Apple, never to us. We could not see them if we wanted to.
To unlock your benefits, the app needs one answer. Is your subscription active right now? A subscription service handles that check and the subscription screen itself. What it deals with is the purchase: which plan you chose, whether it is still running, whether a trial is on. It carries no name and no email.
You can manage or cancel any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
One notification, and only one
If you start a free trial, the app reminds you two days before it starts charging. We would rather you decide than be surprised by a bill.
That reminder is created on your device and stays there. No server sees it and no message reaches us. You can switch notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.
What the app never touches
The app has no use for your photos, camera or microphone. It does not ask for your location. It does not read your contacts, your files or your health data, and it has no connection to any other account you hold.
To be direct about the two questions people ask most: we do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone beyond the partners described on this page.
Younger players
The app suits any age. There is no account, no chat, and no way for players to send anything to each other. Do bear in mind that the free version shows ads. Puzzle+ removes them.
Your rights, and how to act on them
Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there is usually nothing for us to find, correct or erase on your behalf. That is rather the point. Depending on where you live, you may still have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. Write to us and we will help as far as the data allows.
You can also take these steps yourself, right now.
Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device. To clear the saved copy, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, where you can remove the app's iCloud data. To stop ad tracking, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Changes to this policy
As the app gains features, or as the law moves, we will update this page and change the date at the top. It is worth a look now and then.
